Awards Time Again
Awards. They really sort the men from the other men.
Hours of work with a scalpel and thousands of dollars later, we have a neat pile of award entries ready to go (hopefully not to their gruesome deaths). At this point I've started thinking that the agencies who don't enter awards have it right. Actually, it was at the point where I had to mount the radio scripts on sturdy black card. I don't think spray-glue is good for your reproductive options.

Believe me, awards entires are better. I read an agency site yesterday that when I went to the section marked awards said "we don't a give a rats (sic) about awards. Now rewards are a different matter. Rewards from our clients..." etc etc. Um...so basically you mean you don't win shit and don't do worthy work.
Spray adhesive lung is a serious problem with older ad guys, as is the debilitating Yoken Marker Syndrome. I have suffered from these and the lesser known ad injury - scalpel foot.
First of all I have to say that please forgive me.
My previous post had not gone well,so I had to post an immediate one .I used one that I send you.
I will assure you that I will give you another good one.
My $0.02 from "back in the day" land...I know a man who suffered sufficient nerve damage from rubber cement solvents while a production artist for an ad agency that he lost his eyesight.
So please be careful with that stuff.
(And Dan, I had my close and painful encounters with scalpel foot, known here as Xacto-toe.)
There should be a ward in the hospital for ad-related injuries.
Xacto-toe is a terrible, yet preventable, injury. We must stay vigilant. Hope you suffered no permanent damage, Lori.
Rikki, we could discuss this for days. Having spent thousands of dollars and way too much energy on this very thing, I can't say one way or another. They provide a service, and they can be way overvalued. Having judged my share, I can also say that seeing how work gets in or not is a very liberating experience. :-)
It is great to observe somebody put enough craze towards a matter. I'm thankful that I stumbled upon this process. I am lucky I used the time to read on past the 1st paragraph. You have got a whole lot to say, very much to offer. I really hope guys understand this and look into your page.
